Personal

To end this crazy year, I wanted to post a short (OK, it's kind of long!) slideshow of my two babies as they grew in 2008. My parents and siblings appear here and there, as does camera-shy Paul.

Older brother Joaquin turns 3 tomorrow, and in addition to no longer being in diapers, he can tell the difference between a wren and a chickadee, which to me signifies the true nuance of grown-up-edness! Happy New Year to all, and many thanks for blessing me with your affection, love stories, and friendship.

Here's a very romantic story for you, and it's kind of multi-faceted, so please bear with me! In 2005 I was hired to photograph Rebecca and Robby's wedding in the mountains near Valle Crucis. Bec and I became great friends and you have seen some of her photography and heard me mention her frequently on this blog. Thanks to her recommendation, I had the privilege of photographing her dearest friend Susanna's wedding to J.B. in 2007. Susanna and J.B.'s wedding in Chapel Hill was particularly bittersweet because her beloved dad had passed away in 2004 -- her mother Melissa walked her down the aisle. Not long after Susanna's wedding, Melissa met a wonderful man named Duncan and they fell in love. J.B., Melissa's son-in-law, walked her down the "aisle" of the outdoor ceremony, and the clouds parted for about 30 minutes at dusk, just in time to create a spectacular light show. I hope you enjoy these sweet stories!

I just love the synchronicity of this moment -- click { HERE } to see a reciprocal moment at Susanna's wedding:

**My apologies to all for getting so far behind in my posts -- I hope to catch up over the next few weeks...**

Here is a really sweet wedding from early November, made all the more poignant by the fact that Dianne's dad went into the hospital unexpectedly on the Thursday before the wedding.

Dianne is a chef, and I was tickled by the juxtaposition of her delicate wedding dress hanging near her hard-working chef clothes:

The beautiful Augsberg Lutheran Church in Winston-Salem:

Dianne's dad was sorry not to be able to walk her down the aisle, but her brothers stood in for him:

The bridal party went straight to the hospital after the ceremony so that Dianne's dad could see them in their finery:

Meanwhile, the reception was getting underway at the Brookstown Inn in Winston-Salem, and once everyone got there and raised glasses in honor of Dianne's dad, the party got underway. Below: a lovely cake by { Ollie's Bakery }.

I love watching people having fun taking photos -- I understand the obsession, believe me! This was a particularly enthusiastic cadre of photogs during the cake-cutting:

A stolen moment outside the reception at the end of the night:

Congratulations!!!
